  Monika Andrzejewska
Name: Monika Andrzejewska
Job Title: Acting Home Manager
Home: Spinney Hill

After I graduated from my university I was a social worker in Poland for nearly a year. I always wanted to visit England and decided to move to England in May 2006 and I then started working at Tracscare home Orchard Hill as a support worker grade 1. In March 2007, I was promoted to Social Worker Grade 2 and then in October 2007 I worked in a supervisory or management capacity in various homes throughout the company as a ‘Fastracer'. Since November 2008 I have worked at Spinney Hill as Acting Manager where I have achieved my NVQ Level 4 in Social Care. Tracscare has provided me with the opportunity to fulfil my career goals with qualifications and hands-on experience.

  Dave Harris
Name: Dave Harris
Job Title: Registered Manager
Home: Cedar House

I had a career with BT which spanned over 30 years which, after many twists and turns including building telephone exchanges, designing the same and managing the software of computer controlled sites, ended with a strategic planning role for most of Wales.

I started as a support worker at TyCamlas in early 2005. After about six months I applied to join the fast-track scheme, which started with a promotion to Senior Support Worker. I worked in various homes including Gower Lodge, the Willows and Rose Cottage. I then covered vacant manager positions at Ashcombe Court in Weston-Super-Mare and Kington House in Barry before being promoted to manage Cedar House in September 2007. I thoroughly enjoy my role as Registered Manager and have always felt that my potential to add value to the company and the clients has been positively encouraged by our senior team.

  Mark Rowlands
Name: Mark Rowlands
Job Title: Registered Manager
Home: Cae Eithin

I began my career with Alkare in Sep 2000 as a support worker at Parkrise. Prior to this I was a post man with Royal Mail. In 2002 I was promoted to senior support worker at Parkrise, leaving there in Sep 2004 to be a deputy manager of the Paddocks where I remained for almost 4 years. Since may 2008 I have been the registered manager for Cae Eithin. After working in a variety of homes and providing cover in other homes I have worked with a number of incredible staff members, and met some wonderful clients along the way.

Since joining tracscare I have been supported in achieving my NVQ Level 3 in Promoting Independence, and am currently working toward NVQ4 management. I am also at the end of a BA History Degree. Being assimilated to Tracscare was initially quite daunting, but the last year has been the most enjoyable of my career so far. I love coming to Cae Eithin and being part of an enthusiastic and motivated staff team; whose focus is client development and rehabilitation. I most enjoy that Tracscare value and promote client participation, and that clients’ views form the basis for organisational policy. With the same focus, I hope to help Cae Eithin achieve its potential as a modern and independent model of care. I have held the above position since May 2008.

Job Title: Registered Manager
Home: Woodlands

I left school at the age of eighteen, and wanted to pursue a career as a mental health nurse, however, my careers advisor managed to persuade me that I would be better off working in the industrial sector as I would not be able to support a family on nurses pay. As a result of this advice I got a job in the print sector, where I remained for 25years. During that time I had considered a change of direction but thought it best to remain with what I knew as it paid the bills.

Eventually I knew I needed to change my career as 25 years doing a job I didn't like was enough. I saw an advertisement in the evening mail advertising job vacancies with Tracs and decided to apply. I was interviewed and was accepted on the Fastrac scheme as I had previous management experience. I started at Chesterwood in late March 2005. I progressed through the scheme working in various homes and was eventually promoted to Deputy Home Manager in April 06. In February 2007 I became Acting Home Manager at Maycroft covering maternity leave. In September 2007 I became the Registered Manager of the new tracscare home in Acocks Green, Woodlands.

In my time with tracscare I have gained new qualifications, NVQ 2 Health and Social Care, Registered Managers Award (Adults), NVQ 4 Health and Social Care and Level 3 Mental Health in the Community.

I am not sure what the future holds but I would like to further my career with tracscare. One thing that I can honestly say is that my career move was the best decision I have ever made and I would recommend it to anyone, and for the first time in my working life I actually look forward to going into work.
