Respite Care

Caring for a relative who may have challenging needs can be very demanding and to maintain the high level of care you provide; you will need a break to recharge your batteries. We all need a break from our daily routines now and again and tracscare Respite Care Services can give you that opportunity.

Selecting an appropriate respite service is essential, for the comfort and safety of each client and for the peace of mind of the carer, which can only be achieved by knowing a high quality of service is being provided through tailoured care packages, in safe comfortable surroundings supported by experienced staff.

Tracscare has years of experience in caring for adults with challenging needs and are able to provide respite care for clients with an acquired brain injury or mental health needs at several locations across South Wales and Gloucester.

Tracscare respite placements provide:

  • Full individual assessment prior to admission, including liaison with any clinicians and professionals currently involved in the support of the client
  • Review of risk assessment and reactive management assessment and planning pertinent to the respite environment prior to admission
  • Review of any potential mental health relapse indicators
  • Continuation of existing care plans, with additions as appropriate to the respite situation
  • Staff Support on a flexible basis to match client needs, e.g. ranging from 1:1 support to occasional support for more independent clients
  • An experienced staff team, trained to meet the needs of an acquired brain injury and mental health client group
  • The provision of a named keyworker for the duration of the respite period
  • A commitment to provide a full activity programme to ensure that the respite period is a positive and where appropriate a therapeutic experience

Our respite services are suitable for clients who need to be placed in a respite care setting for short periods of time, but longer periods are available for those who need it, and for those as part of a temporary step-down from hospital before going back home.
