Alkare has developed Frood House, a Nurse Led Therapy Centre, to provide ongoing nursing support, appropriate therapies or nursing interventions and assessment for clients with Mental Health needs, as part of a transition into an appropriate community placement.
Frood House is a non-secure nursing registered care home of 10 (Frood) beds, and provide:
- The tracscare Group provide a Continuum of Care: providing a Nurse led assessment and Therapeutic service for hospital or secure unit discharge, allowing for a rehabilitative pathway towards residential care, supported flatlets and onto domiciliary care if appropriate.
- A test-ground for Hospital discharge: providing the security of assessment, pharmacological monitoring, and support for acute symptoms in a nursing skilled environment. Frood and Mond offers hope to those who may be subject to the 'revolving door syndrome'
- Relapse Intervention: providing the opportunity for a step back to nursing support in situations across the tracscare group where Mental Health relapse threatens residential care placement. This may offer a less traumatic and less self-defeating option than re-admission to hospital.
- Flexible Support: providing long term placement for those with chronic Mental Health needs or providing a planned and supported step down to a community placement
- Therapeutic Nurse-led intervention: providing support for established clinical programs in liaison with multi-disciplinary teams / clinicians, e.g. anxiety management, CBT, DBT and psychological work to address medication non compliance.
- Risk Assessment and Management focus: providing a nurse-led 'Supportive Observation' framework for risk management.
Clients are encouraged to participate in activities outside of the homes, which may include physical activity at the Leisure Centre, educational or training opportunities as well as everyday links with the local community through activities such as shopping or visiting family and friends.
Frood House has been established to provide a service which empowers individuals to feel sufficiently skilled and confident to embark on their next stage of recovery and a journey towards living in a smaller residential care placement and then full independence.
