Llys Afon is situated on the outskirts of Canton near to local bus and train routes. Llys Afon is close to a wide variety of community facilities including Health Centers, shops, parks and leisure facilities all within walking distance.
Llys Afon comprises of two ground floor flats with an adjoining door between the two. At present flat one has a very small office / sleep-in room, comfortable and homely lounge / dinning room, small galley kitchen, bathroom with toilet hand basin and large shower cubical, flat 1 also has one bedroom. Flat 2 currently shared by two clients has its own small galley kitchen, large bathroom with basin full size bath and overhead shower, two very large bedroom/living rooms and a small room that is currently used as a smoking room.
Llys Afon is currently registered for three adults 18-65 two with Mental Health problems and one with Learning Disabilities.
Nearby is a large shopping area, several pubs and restaurants and video/DVD hire shop. There are also activities such as cycling, canoeing, sailing, horse riding, cycle tracks, and several large parks within the canton area. There are also opportunities for educational pursuits such as art, pottery and Drama classes as well as computer, math’s and English classes. The local community center is used for keep fit classes, self defense and discussion groups.
Llys Afon has a minimum of 2 Staff on duty during the day but for the majority benefits from 3 staff from 10a.m-3pm, and 1 sleep staff at night. Staff receive extensive internal training, supplemented by relevant external courses to ensure a high level of client care. Such training includes manual Handling, Health and Safety and Fire Safety. Staff are trained or are working towards their NVQ level 2, management at level 4.
Based on individual needs, clients have access to a large professional team, which includes Clinical Support Nurses, Occupational, Speech and Behavioral Therapists and Clinical Psychiatry. The Care and Social Services Inspectorate Wales (CSSIW) register Flat 1 and 2 for 3 adults one with Learning Difficulty and two with a Mental Health Disorder. The Inspectorate can be contacted at:
