![]() tracscare - MaycroftLocationMaycroft is situated approximately 5 miles outside of Birmingham City Centre and just 5 miles off Junction 4 of the M42. The home is situated on the Alcester Road South, a main road which runs directly from Birmingham through to the M42. There are several large shopping areas within 20 minutes drive, these include Kings Heath, Solihull and Maypole. As you would expect this position allows access to everyday facilities ie. shopping centres, supermarkets etc, and also within a short drive more specialised facilities eg. snoezelen, college, leisure centre. Maycroft is set back from the main road, so although in a very central area, the privacy of the home is maintained. AccommodationMaycroft is a bungalow, with all 8 bedrooms and communal area's on the ground floor, which makes this an ideal Home for mobility impaired clients. Maycroft has a large lounge, dining room, large kitchen, two bathrooms (with a third under construction) three toilets. Client GroupMaycroft offers care to adults of varying age and with varying levels of ability, including adults with challenging needs, brain injury, physical disability and learning difficulties. The main age range spans from early 20's to late 40's and consists of people from differing cultural backgrounds. ActivitiesMaycroft clients have access to a broad range of varied facilities, both for fun and learning. These include using the senorsory area and hydropool at Salisbury Day Centre, massage/ aromatherapy sessions, Matthew Boulton college, Rathbone College, Bourneville College, snooker, cinema, local pubs, visits to local beauty spots such as Stratford upon Avon. Within the City of Birmingham, major entertainment events take place at the Symphony Hall, NIA and NEC. The city also has three main theatres, the Alexander Theatre, The Birmingham Hippodrome and the Birmingham Repertory Theatre as well as the Midlands Arts Centre. StaffMaycroft offers a high staff to client ratio, with a minimum of 5 staff on duty during the day and two staff during the night (1 sleep in, 1 wake night). Included in our staff team we have a qualified complimentary therapist, musicians and university graduates. All staff receive extensive internal training, supplemented by relevant external courses. Staff receive in-depth training and on-going support on low arousal techniques, which are at the core of tracscare care philosophy. Training is outlined in more detail on the Staff Page. CareMaycrofts philosophy is to provide the highest possible level of care, whilst promoting independence, dignity and friendship within a secure and safe environment. The client's family are invited to participate in and oversee the care plans on offer and are encouraged to give constructive feedback regarding existing plans. Every six months, each client is given an Individual Programme Plan where a client's keyworker arranges a meeting with the client's Social Worker, relatives etc, in which new goals are planned and the previous six months progress is reviewed. The clients are involved in the decision making within the home. The home's care policy is outlined fully within tracscare Care Policy. ClinicalAll Maycroft clients are registered with a local GP. Clients have access to tracscare Clinical Support Nurse plus specialist input in the areas of psychiatry, psychology, speech therapy, drama therapy on an individual needs basis. Counselling services are available for both the clients and staff. A named pharmacy provides client medications and a Chiropodist visits regularly. There are several major hospitals in the vicinity. A behavioural therapist provides specialist support with challenging needs care planning. UniqueWe have a high staff client ratio. and utilise a non-confrontational reactive strategy in support of challenging needs. There are several tracscare homes within a 3 mile radius, which are able to provide support when needed eg. combine trips out / more group activities. Maycroft is registered for 7 adults with challenging needs, brain injury, physical disability and learning difficulties by the Commision for Social Care and Inspection (CSCI).
