Location

Kington House is a large Victorian property in Barry situated approximately 10 minutes walk from the town centre and sea front. There are local shops and amenities close by. Barry is close to Cardiff, the airport and the M4 motorway for links into the rest of South Wales.

Accommodation

Formerly a residential care home for the elderly, tracscare has converted Kington House into a 7 bed care home for adults with mental health needs, each bedroom being fully en-suite. Kington House has an elegant lounge, dining room, smoking room, meeting room, laundry and brand new fitted kitchen. Two of the seven bedrooms are on the ground floor and able to meet the needs of mobility impaired clients.

The property has been fully modernised and upgraded internally, whilst retaining many of the house's original features. Although the Home is not suitable to accommodate wheelchair user clients, special access and separate toilet facilities have been incorporated into the design for disabled visitors. Externally, there are well laid out, mature gardens to the front and a private garden and patio area to the rear. There is off road parking for several cars. To the rear of Kington House in a modern annexe tracscare has a smaller four bed home.

In Barry, there are a small number of shops, pubs, restaurants, library, leisure centre and various places of worship.

Staff

Kington House has an average of 5 staff on duty during the day and at night 1 wake night with 1 sleep night cover. Staffing may be varied in accordance with individual client need.

All staff receive extensive internal training supplemented by relevant external courses to ensure a high level of client care. All have been inducted in the clinical and rehabilitation aspects of mental health. Training is outlined in more detail on the Training Page.

Clinical

Based on individual needs, clients have access to a large professional team. tracscare employs RMN qualified Clinical Support Nurses to share up to date knowledge and research with the care staff teams and where required tracscare arranges input from Therapists, Consultant Psychiatrist and Clinical Psychologists. Kington House is registered for 7 adults with mental health needs by the Care Standards Inspectorate Wales (CSIW) The Inspectorate can be contacted at
