Location

Gower Lodge is located in Gowerton, a quiet village suburb of Swansea, close to the beautiful beaches of the Gower Peninsula. The M4 motorway is relatively close by, making the Home very accessible from across South Wales.

Accommodation

Gower Lodge is a large detached house, which has been adapted to meet the specific needs of its residents. The House has been sub divided to create two separate Homes, Gower Lodge and Church View, with a joint registration. Gower Lodge has 6 single bedrooms. All rooms are on the ground floor. The Home has two large communal living rooms and a good sized kitchen. Gower Lodge offers a warm friendly environment.

Client Group

Gower Lodge offers care to 6 adults with challenging needs, learning difficulties, or a brain injury who have challenging needs.

Activities

In Gowerton itself, there are a small number of shops, pubs, restaurants, a library, golf course and various places of worship. Nearby is Swansea city centre, the Gower Peninsula and Mumbles. In-house activities include a TV room. A local swimming centre is accessed on a regular basis.

Staff

Gower Lodge, with its sister home Church View has a staff team of over 30; with an average of 10 staff on duty during the day and at night 2 wake night with 1 sleep night cover. All staff receive extensive internal training supplemented by relevant external courses. Staff receive in-depth training and on-going support on low arousal techniques, which are the core of tracscare care philosophy. Training is outlined in more detail on the Staff Page.

Care

Care is based on an understanding of individual client needs, specifically the function and communication value of behaviour.

Clinical

Based on individual needs, clients have access to a large professional team, which includes tracscare Clinical Support Nurses, speech therapist, clinical psychiatrist, reflexologist and behavioural therapist. The behavioural therapist works closely with the staff team to functionally analyse challenging needs. Gower Lodge is registered for 12 adults with Learning Difficulty and Mental Disorder by the Care Standards Inspectorate Wales (CSIW). The Inspectorate can be contacted at
