Location

Church View is located in Gowerton, a quiet village suburb of Swansea, close to the beautiful beaches of the Gower Peninsula. The M4 motorway is relatively close by, making the Home very accessible from across South Wales.

Accommodation

Church View is situated on the first floor of a large detached house, which has been adapted to meet the specific needs of its residents. The House has been sub divided to create two separate Homes, Gower Lodge and Church View, with joint registration. Church View has 6 single bedrooms. All rooms are on the first floor. The Home has large communal living rooms and a good sized kitchen. Church View offers a warm friendly environment.

Client Group

Church View offers care to 6 adults with challenging needs, learning difficulties, or a brain injury and dual diagnosis.

Activities

In Gowerton itself there are a small number of shops, pubs, restaurants, a library, golf course and various places of worship. Nearby is Swansea city centre, the Gower Peninsula and Mumbles. A local swimming centre is accessed on a regular basis.

Staff

Church View, with its sister home Gower Lodge has a staff team of over 30; with an average 10 staff on duty during the day and at night 2 wake night with 1 sleep night cover. All staff receive extensive internal training supplemented by relevant external courses. Staff receive in-depth training and on-going support on low arousal techniques, which are the core of tracscare care philosophy. Training is outlined in more detail on the Staff Page.

Care is based on an understanding of individual client needs, specifically their behaviour and their communication

Clinical

Based on individual needs, clients have access to a large professional team, which includes tracscare Clinical Support Nurses, speech therapist, clinical psychiatrist, reflexologist and behavioural therapist. The behavioural therapist works closely with the staff team to functionally analyse challenging needs. Church View is registered as part of Gower Lodge for 12 adults by the Care Standards Inspectorate Wales (CSIW)
