tracscare - Cedar House

Location

The Home is situated near the village of Bryncoch, in beautiful countryside, yet close to the amenities of Neath and with good access to the M4. The house is situated off the main road, behind a large front garden & parking courtyard. To the rear of the house is a pleasant rural outlook.

Accommodation

Cedar house is a small separate Home, for six clients, but part of a large, modern House with spacious bedrooms. Cedar House has all ground floor accommodation with its 'sister' Home, Meadow View, occupying the first floor. Cedar House has two spacious lounge/diners, two bathrooms with some bedrooms having en-suite facilities. Cedar House is run separately to Meadow View, with its own staff team.

Cedar House has large wide hallways, a large kitchen, a separate smoking room and a meeting room. The Home is well adapted to benefit clients using wheelchairs and other mobility aids. Outside there are large pleasant front and rear gardens allowing space for clients to sit and relax.

Client Group

Cedar House offers care and accommodation for Clients with brain injury, physical disability, learning difficulties and challenging needs. Cedar House caters to more vulnerable clients than Meadow View.

Activities

Cedar House encourage its clients to fully participate in activities that are available in the local community such as the local cinemas, horse riding centre, bowling alley, swimming pool, pubs and parks. Activities are based on choice and individual care plans. Clients can also access local colleges in Neath and Pontardawe

Staff

All staff receive extensive internal training supplemented by relevant external courses. Staff receive in-depth training and on-going support on low arousal techniques, which are at the core of tracscare care philosophy. Training is outlined in more detail on the Staff Page. Cedar House offer wake & sleep night staff support.

Care

Cedar House offers high levels of input to clients requiring support in all areas of their personal care and daily living. Staff support is complimented by a visiting reflexologist and physiotherapist.

Clinical

A Clinical Support Nurse is employed to work closely alongside the Home Manager and clients keyworker, to ensure that the clients needs are assessed and addressed within individualised Care Plans. There is also Consultant Psychiatric support available for assessment, advice and the management of clients medication. The Clinical Support Nurse co-ordinates all other clinical input e.g.. psychology, speech therapy, drama therapy.

Cedar House, including Meadow View has a combined registration for 14 adults with an acquired brain injury (high dependancy) by the Care Standards Inspectorate Wales (CSIW) The Inspectorate can be contacted at
